2 Corinthians 10:17,18

10:17 But “he who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.” 10:18 For it isn’t he who commends himself who is approved, but whom the Lord commends.

The World English Bible links the quote to Jeremiah 9:24:

9:23 This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, 9:24 but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the LORD.

I like the modesty and humility entailed in this. I’m attracted to the humility shown by great athletes and musicians when they receive praise.

  1. To add to this verse check out Galatians 6:14: “May I never boast except in the cross of Christ.” Humility is always attractive, especially when one gives praise and honor where it is due.

    Dear Lorna

Hello again and thank you for your kind words. I’m starting to read blogs again too (on my phone!), so I’ll be ’round when I can.

Everyone has cool new avatars it seems. I like yours!
