Mark 4:24-25

4:24 He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you who hear. 4:25 For whoever has, to him will more be given, and he who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.”

(World English Bible)

When I first read this I thought it didn’t seem fair: surely those who were without should be given? But it’s not talking about wordly goods. I think it’s saying if you sincerely look for the truth, then the truth will meet you halfway, and help you along; if you turn away from the truth, the darkness will be allowed to swallow you up.

That sounds pretty harsh too, but that’s what it seems to be like. From the darkness, it is hard to turn towards the light — to even see where the light might be. A lonely struggle. But once you’ve turned, sincerely, “more will be given to you”, the truth rewards and reinforces your efforts.
